5 Reminders for Hard Workers

  1. Your best is going to look different on different days. You are not going to be great every day. Some days when you give your best, it’s going to be amazing. Some days when you give your best, it can be kind of ugly. Learn to give yourself some grace on the ugly days. And remember, as long as you are giving your best, IT IS ENOUGH.

  2. You deserve credit. Hard workers are so used to working hard that they sometimes start believing that it’s normal. Working hard is not normal. Every time you show up and work hard, it is a choice. And you deserve to give yourself credit, even on the ugly days.

  3. Take care of YOU. You know your body better than anyone else in the world. Listen to it. You are the only one who knows what’s going on with you mentally. Be honest about it. Then make wise, intentional decisions accordingly. Don’t wait until you are broken to take a break.

  4. Have some fun. You don’t have to think about your sport 24/7 to be great at your sport. Hard workers tend to get caught up in the eat, sleep and train grind. Break up the monotony. Make a commitment to add a fun activity into your schedule weekly that brings you joy. Got to an amusement park. Take a walk with friends and get ice cream. Try a new hobby. Find joy OUTSIDE your sport.

  5. Remember who you are. You are a Badass. Hard workers know that they are strong and powerful in practice. But when you start feeling nervous or afraid at competitions, it’s easy to feel like a weaker version of yourself. Remember, there are not two versions of you. The same badass, tough, powerful warrior in practice is YOU! Even when you are feeling the nerves.
